My inspiration...

When I am at a show or showing my work to friends and family, I often get asked, "How did you come up with the idea?" The answer I give to is that I am always observing what is around me. I am always taking pictures of things that most people think is unusual...even my family!

Here's an example of picture I took of a farmhouse porch ceiling that my husband and I were renovating. I absolutely loved this green color, and it ended up being one of my brand colors.

Most of the time, I am taking pictures of beautiful color combinations that comes from only mother nature. Sometimes I am taking pictures of different textures that I find in the outdoors. My family and I seem to always travel to state parks and do lots of hiking. These hikes are where I am taking so many pictures of things that are inspiring to me. I keep all of these pictures in my hip pocket to use when I am in a creative rut.

Many times, my inspiration comes from items that I wove in the past. I enjoy taking color combinations that were successful in the past, and creating another piece from those colors. 

Another great tool that I use, also, comes from mother nature. I use the Fibonacci number sequence. The Fibonacci sequence is a sequence in which each number is the sum of the two preceding ones. All of you mathematicians reading this post understand this much more than I do! The first few numbers of the sequence are 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, etc. For example, I can use the number one as one yarn, one inch, one unit, etc. The possibilities are endless. When I am weaving, I usually do not have an issue coming up with something new project. My problem is I have too many projects, and there is not enough time to weave them all.
